Welcome to the website of one of Ireland's oldest and most respected Brass and Reed Bands, the Boherbuoy Brass and Reed Band. Established in 1850, in the Boherbuoy area of the city, the band is well known locally for our tradition and sense of community.

Clonakilty 2009

Rehearsals are now in full swing for the South of Ireland Band Championships 2009, held annually in Clonakilty, Co. Cork. The Championship will take place on Saturday July 4th. Every year this weekend proves to be an enjoyable weekend for all.

Boherbuoy Present a Celebration Concert

In celebration of our victory at the National Band Championships, Boherbuoy present a Celebration Concert on Friday 15th May at the Crescent College Comprehensive, Dooradoyle, Limerick at 7.45pm.

Boherbuoy will be joined by special guests Cantette Childrens Choir, Limerick County Youth Choir and Seoda Ladies Choir.

Boherbuoy - National Champions 2009!!

Boherbuoy was crowned Champions of the Senior Section of the IABCB 44th Irish National Band Championship. The National event took place at the Cork School of Music on Saturday and Sunday (18th/19th April). Boherbuoy received the highest marks for their performance of both their test piece, Passacaglia by Timothy Jackson and their choice piece, A Festive Overture by Alfred Reed.  All members thoroughly enjoyed the day, the festivities continued in the Metropole Hotel with entertainment by the Boherbuoy Dance Band.  The National Championship will be held at the University Concert Hall, Limerick next year.

 Congratulations to all who participated. 

 

Boherbuoy Wins Special Judges Award

Thirty thousand spectators thronged the streets of Limerick on Sunday 15th of March for Limericks 39th International Band Competition. The Irish Army Band lead the Limerick parade which kicked off the city’s St Patrick’s Festival. Boherbuoy were presented a special judges award. It was a very enjoyable day - well done to all who participated.

 

Band Hall Buzz's with the Sound of New Recruits

New learner classes have begun at the band hall a number of weeks ago. There are now currently 18 children and 6 adults who have begun to learn to play an instrument. A big thank you must be said to all who help out with the new learners.

Child Protection

Boherbuoy Brass and Reed Band is committed to the safety and well being of children in our care.  Boherbuoy Band has a dedicated Child Liaison/Protection Officer with responsibility for child abuse referrals, provision of training for members, monitoring and implementation of Boherbuoy Band’s child protection policies, procedures and code of good practice.

Child Protection is at the forefront of Boherbuoy’s direct work with children. Boherbuoy maintains a professional approach and a code of practice that is founded on good practice and is informed by current best practices in the area.  The safety and wellbeing of children in our care is paramount. 

Committee members of the Boherbuoy Brass and Reed Band have received specialist training in child protection.  The implementation of Boherbuoy’s Child Protection Policy is monitored by the Child Liaison/Protection Officer.
