A Brief History of Special Education

Regrettably, education in this state was, more frequently than not, really neglectful and abusive when dealing with students who are different somehow.There’s a rich literature within our state that clarifies the treatment offered to people with disabilities in the 1800s and early 1900s. Irvine Howe was among the first to urge taking our childhood from those massive institutions and to put out residents into households. Unfortunately this practice turned into a pragmatic difficulty and it required a very long time before it may develop into a viable alternative to institutionalization for our pupils with disabilities.
