South of Ireland Band Championships, Clonakilty

Boherbuoy Brass and Reed Band competed in this years South of Ireland Band Championships at the weekend. Boherbuoy performed Old Comrades, Oregon and The Lion King. It was a very enjoyable weekend. Also competing at the weekend was the Boherbuoy Junior Band. The junior band performed Crocodile Rock, The Glory of Texas and The Pirates of the Caribbean . A huge congratulations to the junior band for performing so well and scoring a huge 85 marks!!
160th Anniversary Concert

Boherbuoy Brass and Reed Band is pleased to announce the 160th Anniversary Concert on Fri 11th, Jun 2010, in The Redemptorist Church, Limerick. Concert program including "Celebration Waltz" specially composed by Paddy McCormack for the anniversary and many other favourite tunes of the band members and the friends of the band through decades. Entry to the concert is free, so please come and share the celebration with the band.
St. Patrick's Celebrations

Boherbuoy participated in Limerick's International Band Parade and Competition once again on Sunday 14th March. This year marks the 40th Anniversary of the parade and competition. Other bands that participated travelled from the UK, Germany, France and Africa. Boherbuoy are honoured to lead the St. Patricks Day parade once again this year. Members of the Boherbuoy junior band will also march with the senior band this year. Following the Limerick parade Boherbuoy will entertain the people of Shannon when the band will march in the Shannon Town Parade also.
National Championships 2010
National's are looming once again...This year the IABCB National Championships will be held at the University Concert Hall in Limerick. The Nationals will take place over a two day period - the 17th and 18th of April, 2010. The adjudicator this year is Mr Timothy Reynish (www.timreynish.com).

Annual General Meeting 2010
The Boherbuoy Band's AGM was held on Sunday 17th January. The AGM proved to be very positive, the success of the band in 2009 was very much highlighted. It was also highlighted that 2010 will be a busy year for the band, as we are now celebrating our 160th Anniversary.

Junior Band
Junior Band is back in full swing following their very successful first performance in Mary Immaculate College on the 20th of December. The junior band performed 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas' and followed with a superb performance of 'Crocodile Rock'. If you know anyone who would be interested in joining the junior band or indeed the senior band please contact us.

Child Protection
Boherbuoy Brass and Reed Band is committed to the safety and well being of children in our care. Boherbuoy Band has a dedicated Child Liaison/Protection Officer with responsibility for child abuse referrals, provision of training for members, monitoring and implementation of Boherbuoy Band’s child protection policies, procedures and code of good practice.
Child Protection is at the forefront of Boherbuoy’s direct work with children. Boherbuoy maintains a professional approach and a code of practice that is founded on good practice and is informed by current best practices in the area. The safety and wellbeing of children in our care is paramount.
Committee members of the Boherbuoy Brass and Reed Band have received specialist training in child protection. The implementation of Boherbuoy’s Child Protection Policy is monitored by the Child Liaison/Protection Officer.
